TechTraction Quick Header Adjustment
Last week Friday (4/6/07) I updated my header image, removed the original menu bar, and inserted a Google Adsense 728×15 link unit ad. Sunday morning the link unit was nothing more than the “Ads by Google” text and a search box. Whoa, what happened? This manifestation of the link unit banner ad was not what I wanted. I believe Google was the source of the problem because an hour later the intended link unit reappeared. This temporary problem was a wake up call. I’ve gone to a lot of trouble fixing TechTraction’s design, and the last thing I want is a link unit ad that comes and goes. I logged into my Google Adsense account and quickly looked for a better solution.
Originally I thought the link unit ad was the perfect option for my site. Unfortunately, if I can’t control the look of the link unit from one day to the next, I’d better try a different option. I decided to try the Google referral links. If you look below the header image you now see two small Google ads: one for the Adsense program and one for Google Pack. I thought both of those options might be of interest to my visitors, and the weren’t too large. The center ad is a simple Google referral image link where the content of the ads constantly changes based on some Google directives that I don’t know much about.
Minor bump in the road but it I think the needed correction might work out better. Also, the bump in the road has caused me to turn my attention to the footer part of my site. Hopefully, by Wednesday I’ll have updated that part of my site. Stay tuned.
