TechTraction’s Friday Finds for 09/21/07 - RSS Feed Links

On Wednesday I wrote about the importance of the RSS feed link on your blog and made two suggestions for getting the most out of your feed link. Therefore, today I plan to keep with the RSS feed theme and offer some suggestions for further reading on the topic:

  • Wikipedia: An obvious link but a very helpful one nevertheless for the basic introduction and overview of an RSS feed.
  • NevOn: On older post from 2005 but still very relevant and presented in a nice easy to read format.
  • WordPress Codex: Another nice introduction to feeds as they relate to WordPress.
  • WordPress Codex Customizing Feeds: Everyone likes to customize their blog and the feed link is another thing you can tweak for your specific blog.
  • Feedburner: If you don’t have a Feedburner account, get one. This place offers several different ways to make the most of your feed, and nearly all of it is free!
  • Adding RSS Feeds to WordPress: Beyond your own RSS feed link you might want to display someone else’s feed on your site. This post from Lorelle gives a brief introduction to this topic along with some nice links to get you started.

Okay, so those are few good links to for general RSS feed knowledge, and ideas of what else you can do with your RSS feed. If you’re an old pro with RSS feeds, and have some other tips or reference links on the topic, then please comment below and share your tips and other resources with the rest of us.

  1. I’ve been a fan of this blog for sometime because it concentrates on RSS feeds, tools, tips and knowledge. Worth a read if you’re learning about RSS in general.
