TechTraction’s Friday Finds for 11/02/07 - .htaccess
I’ve doing a couple different web projects lately and have been leveraging the Apache .htaccess file to control access to various parts of my web projects. I’m very comfortable with this Apache feature but understand that this file can be a bit daunting to someone just starting out. I don’t plan to write a post detailing my understanding of .htaccess because I found a very nice article at corz.org. The article does a fantastic job of introducing the .htaccess file and how best to use it. I know that the file is documented at the Apache web site, but product documentation is usually dry and often lacks real-world examples. If you need to gain a better understanding of .htaccess, you should check out this article.

Hi Bret,
Thanks for this. I’m the last person to be asking about htaccess. There’s an excellent tutorial I’ve linked to in my latest creative resources post, showing how to implement htaccess redirects / rewrites etc.
Very nice.
The final link leads to http://www.http.com, is this intentional?
O-o
Oops. Sorry. I guess I had an extra http in the link. I’ve fixed it. Thanks for the heads up.
