Friday Finds for 12/21/2007: 2 iPods 1 Computer

Apple iPodI’ll admit that today’s Friday Find doesn’t contain the most cutting edge information, but since Christmas is just around the corner it seemed appropriate: How to use 2 different iPods on 1 computer.

Christmas brings gifts and some of those gifts just might be a new iPod for someone. That’s great for the person getting the new iPod but what happens if that person lives in a house where there is a single “family PC” and someone else in the house already has an iPod? Can two iPods happily co-exist on the same computer? According to this support document from Apple, the answer is yes.

My thoughts on Apple’s solution

I had to research this solution for my brother-in-law in order to help keep the peace this Christmas (no worries, I’m not giving anything away — his kids don’t read my blog). Oddly enough I actually had to use Google to find the answer since Apple’s own support search engine is pretty terrible. Anyway, there are a couple of options to make two iPods sync from the same computer. All of which seem very easy. Only problem I see is whether two iPods can sync the same DRM protected song. I’m guessing this won’t work but if anyone knows the answer, please post it in a comment below so I can forward it to my brother-in-law.
