Thanks for the positive feedback horoskop. And yes, preventing DVD43 from auto starting is a good idea. The little application is very helpful; however, if you're not ripping DVDs, it can cause lots of unwanted problems.

Hi Troy, thanks for the comments/questions.

As for removing DVD43 from the system tray...yes, once removed just start it like any other application. Locate the launch icon on your desktop or in the DVD43 program created during installation and it starts the application. You'll see the icon appear in your system once started. I should point out that I have found DVD43 to be a little flaky at times. Therefore I recommend inserting your DVD into your DVD drive and then starting DVD43. When I do this process out of order, it oftenn locks up my machine.

As for other DVD ripping applications...well, I'm pretty dedicated to Handbrake since I've been very successful with it. There are some applications out there you can buy in the $20 to $40 range that claim to do the same thing. I have also heard good things about DVD Decrypter (http://www.dvddecrypter.org.uk/). Similar to Handbrake it is also free but I've never tried it. I think the trick to ripping DVDs for your Blackberry is to fully understand what video formats the Blackberry supports. I believe that this document from Blackberry should be able to help you (http://www.blackberry.com/btsc/articles/216/KB05419_f.SAL_Public.html). One last thing. Even after ripped to a different format, movies can be very large. You'll want to make sure you have enough space on your Blackberry for such movies before spending any more time on it (1 hour of MP4 video is approximately 275 MB).

Thanks again for the comment. Hope I have answered both of your questions.

I know zero about what all the settings need to be for handbrake and the guide is not helpful. I don't have an ipod, I use a blackberry to view video so finding help for handbrake is impossible. Not that people don't try, there is a million posts if you know all the lingo. Looked all day today. Can you suggest another rip program to use with DVD43 that has a complete and simple approach for making copies to DVD and other devices? I give up on handbrake. Thanks.

I am new at backing up my movies and just downloaded DVD43 and Handbrake today. If I remove DVD43 from my tray, do I just start it like a regular program when I want to copy? I know this might be a simple question but I find if I don't ask I usually end up in a bad place. Thanks, Troy

Jazili, glad you found the tutorial useful. Thanks for the comment and please come back once in awhile. I post additional tips about DVD ripping as I discover them myself.
