New Sidebar Items for TechTraction

You might have already noticed but I’ve added a few new elements to the sidebar. Subscription information, Bookmark TechTraction, and Article Categories have been here since the original site redesign; however, here is a quick list of what I recently added to the sidebar and why:

Recommendations: This is a short list of products and services I’m recommending that might be of interest to TechTraction readers. I do use these items so even though they are affiliate product links (I get a percentage of the sale if you click on the link and buy something) my endorsement of these products is honest — I use them myself and like them.

Free OSS Software: This is a list, to which I plan to add more, of free open source software that TechTraction readers might find useful. As it stands right now, I use all of them except for RSSOwl but I do plan to try that program soon.

Favorite Blogs (a.k.a. Blogroll): This is a short list of blogs that I routinely read and comment. There are a lot of great blogs out there, but these are the ones that I find myself going back on a regular basis. If you mouse hover over the name, you should see a short description of each blog.

I have a couple other plans for the sidebar like a “what’s new?” link to my other blog (brothersinblog.com) and a “Suggest a Friday Find” form. Of course, as with most things on this blog, implementing those changes will have to wait till I get some additional free time. In the meantime, let me know what you think of the sidebar changes, and, if you have a suggestion for a Friday Find, leave a comment here until I get my sidebar suggestion form set up.
