File this one under the category of “incredibly fun way to waste lots of time”: CD cover design meme at Flickr. I have to admit, I don’t have a Flickr account so I don’t know all the ins and outs of Flickr but this meme might just be a better way to waste time than remixing music at JamGlue.

The meme has 3 simple rules which results in some amazing designs. If I didn’t know better, I’d say that these bands and covers were the real thing.

The Flickr CD cover design meme rules

1. Generate a fictional band name from by clicking on Wikipedia’s random page-selector. The first article title is the name of your fictional band
2. Go to Quotationspage.com and use the random quote option. The last 4 words of the last quote on the random quote page is the title of your fictional album
3. Finally, visit Flickr’s “most interesting” page and use the third picture on the page (whatever it is) for your fictional CD cover

Take all of these items and assemble them using Photoshop or other image manipulation application. Save your results and upload them to the meme page (Flickr account required). If you don’t have the time to create your own CD cover, at least go to Flickr and take a look at what others have done.
