Friday Find for 03/28/08 - Internet Explorer 8.0 and Web Standards
Regardless whether you like or use Microsoft Internet Explorer, if you have any opinion on IE’s implementation of web standards, then you’ll absolutely love this post from Joel Spolsky. It’s a rather long post, but the author does an excellent job describing the challenges a browser faces in order to be truly “standards compliant.” The entire post comes together in the end where the author outlines the previous, current, and future position of IE 8.0 and its adherence to “standards mode.” I highly recommend this article. It’s both entertaining and educational.

Just be very careful of upgrading to IE8.0 as it causes major problems with third party software. Peachtree accounting is headquartered in Atlanta, and I know for a fact that installing IE8.0 completely blows apart their program.
So, upgrade with caution….
Thanks for the warning on IE 8.0 compatibility. I no idea. I’m a Firefox devotee and only have IE on my machine because Microsoft put it there.
Hence, my installed version of IE is still 6.x.
Thanks again for the comment.
