Friday Finds for 08/29/2008 – OpenSocial Video Tutorials

Interested in learning more about OpenSocial (Google’s set of common application programming interfaces (APIs) for web-based social network applications)? You could read the documentation. You could search your local bookstore or Amazon for an after market book on the subject. Or you could check out some of the online video training from Google Developers Channel on YouTube.

There are some very useful video introductions on the topic of OpenSocial at the Google Developers Channel. The few that I watched were short and to the point; although the presenters were a little lifeless and dull. No worries though, the presenters are programmers and not hyped up marketing people.

If you want to see a quick list of videos focused specifically on OpenSocial, check out the August 4th post at Kipta’s blog. The author pulled together a nice short list of OpenSocial videos that should help anyone get started in OpenSocial.

  1. If you are looking for a book, there’s a new one, OpenSocial Network Programming, that came out this spring. I did a review on it and it’s pretty much a reference and tutorial that takes readers though building simple gadgets to improving performance.
