Not yet. Got seriously side tracked with other work but I just as soon as I have some free time I plan to remove the chips, clean them, clean sim slots, and then try them one at a time. If problem persists, I plan to throw in the towel and just get a new motherboard and memory.

Have you tried just removing the second stick of RAM to isolate it?

Apologies if so. Sounds like it could be faulty RAM in general.

I think my problem is a bad capacitor or two. I'm going to crack the case again this weekend and see if I can identify any problems as shown on badcaps.com. Thanks for the reference. I could just replace the motherboard but have decided that if I see an obvious capacitor problem, I'm going to have it repaired. Thanks again.

Closely check your motherboard for any swollen or leaking capacitors. I bought a used Dell Optiplex on Ebay with a 3GHz Intel processor. It ran like a champ for about a month and then it would mysteriously shut down after being powered on for just a minute or two. A friend turned me onto BadCaps.net and after finding out more about capacitors I looked my mobo over real close and found one by the USB port that was leaking. I sent the mobo into BadCaps to have all the caps replaced and now it works wonderful.
