The Podcast Answer Man podcast from GSPN.tv recently had the good fortunate to interview Bob Heil, the creator of a complete line of Heil microphones. Regardless if you have any interest in high-end microphones or not, the interview is a “must listen.”
Mr. Heil has been in the business for decades and some music fans might know he is also the creator of the Talk Box, a guitar effect made famous by Peter Frampton (and others). You know, the Frampton Comes Alive
double album (back in the 70’s when vinyl was king) with the amazing guitar solo on Do You Feel Like We Do
? Well, if that isn’t ringing a bell, then perhaps you saw him in a recent Geico insurance commercial. Either way, the interview is fantastic and can be found in episode 65 of the Podcast Answer Man.

Well, I meant to simply upgrade to WordPress 2.5.1 but my hosting provider already made the leap to 2.6. And while I would have preferred to upgrade to 2.5.1 and wait for 2.6 to prove itself in the field, I decided to “live on the edge” and just upgrade. Overall the end result wasn’t bad but the Akismet anti-spam plug-in seems to have a problem.

I’ve been dying for an affordable way to connect my iPod to my car stereo that doesn’t involve the low-fi audio option of an FM transmitter. For the family’s Volkswagon Eurovan a standard “rip-n-replace” was the most affordable option. Fortunately, that approach wasn’t necessary for the family’s second car because all I needed was an inexpensive adapter for my Pioneer DEH-P3500 to achieve the desired results.

Back on July 2, 2008 I documented a problem with Google Maps not loading in Firefox 3 caused by the Skype extension. The problem was originally reported to Firefox’s bugzilla problem reporting system but later closed when the problem’s root cause was determined to be the Skype extension and not Firefox. I reported the problem to Skype support and recently received a response in which Skype confimed the problem and provided a link to the latest hotfix.

I was trying to get some directions the other day from Google Maps and discovered that the map wouldn’t load. I recently upgraded to Firefox 3, but thought for certain that I had successfully used Google Maps since the upgrade. I did a little digging around and found that I wasn’t the only person experiencing this problem. Question was, “How do I fix this problem?”

I apologize for this usual TechTraction post, but I wanted to get some MP3 recommendations my readers. Seems that over the weekend my brother’s Creative Zen Micro MP3 player died. It appears that using while he exercised was more than it’s little internal hard drive could handle. He’s now in the market for a new [...]

You’ve heard the warning so many times you can probably recite it like a mantra - back up your hard drive data, back up your hard drive data. Despite the repeated warnings, many of us simply don’t take action. Some of us procrastinate while others of us foolishly believe that a disaster could never happen to us. Whatever the reason, the end result is the same: we’re simply not backing up our data like we should.
